8 Stand-Out Products To Make Your Wardrobe Staples Look & Feel Like New
There’s a fine line between hoarding rags and scraps that once resembled actual wardrobe items and refreshing beloved items which show signs of having been worn on several occasions (sometimes: worn to very ill-suited events or locations, often involving mud or beer or both, or: worn in the presence of paint-yielding, yogurt-spurting children, often: worn in Seattle, or London, or The Netherlands, or other countries where it commonly spits down with rain, etc), but which still show signs of life.
If rags and scraps are the things you’d only wear in your house or while in the presence of immediate family members, this latter category you might deem acceptable to don to brunch with your girlfriends. On the other hand, you wouldn’t even consider wearing them while you stood against a barricade, waving a neon posterboard in Matt Lauer’s face that read “I’m an NYC Virgin! TALK TO ME!” at the TODAY plaza.
It’s a very case by case basis, I find. Often times when working with clients, my job is Simply to respond with a string of “No’s” to their every various plea that the item in question might possibly be revived. And then there was the other day, when I eyed my client’s designer “white” handbag, died a lovely shade of blue thanks to denim transfer, and insisted that she give me ten minutes alone with the thing. When I emerged from the laundry room, bag as white as toilet paper, she was aghast, giddily clapped her hands and very possibly jumped not once but twice.
Use your judgement, but do err on the side of ruthlessness is what I mean.
If you deem your items in need of love but not beyond the point of no return, you’ll need supplies to get them shiny, new. Here’s a few:
