The Zippered Bed-Linen Bag
You know those thick plastic bags, slightly boxy in shape with zippered closures? The ones bed sheets and comforters come in. Yeah, well I’m a big fan of them. They are, in fact, the one type of container/bag/box to which my usual ruthlessness doesn’t extend (more on guidelines regarding those regulated supplies here). Whereas I wouldn’t even begin to entertain your argument on why you needed to keep those sixteen Neiman Marcus bags, I would actively encourage you to hold onto these guys.
Maybe they’re not even plastic; they might perhaps be vinyl, but whatever their combined material percentage, they feel durable enough to store most anything, even heavier objects. They’re no where near rigid, however, and can be folded up to teacup size when not in use. And the zip closure is naturally a win over a XL ziploc bag’s. Just look at the bevy of items a bag of this sort might be used to store:
What say you? Any other fans out there?

I love sinchronicity ! I just put two of these in the garbage – read your article and went and took them out (thankfully they were at the top of the garbage bag:) — as I now I can see all kinds of ways that I can use them – thank you for your very timely article.

I can’t tell you the many things I use mine for…I’m with you about keeping these and throwing other bags away. They are great for storage and toting. My family knows not to ever throw them away or else…lol!!

We use them for airline travel – they work perfectly as the “clear bags” you need for toiletries in your suitcase

Aren’t they made from toxic plastics that can leach phthalates?

I love these…..I use them as packing cubes. They’re perfect because you can find your clothes easily. They compress enough to save space (especially for folks like me who don’t have time to roll all my clothes). Just be careful with delicates it’s knits, may get caught on rough corners or zipper.
