Storage Trend: Glass Drawer Fronts

June 5, 2013

Happy hump day, cats.

Here’s the latest in things I think are brilliant: glass or lucite drawer fronts. This is truly where visibility and drawer-ibility intersect successfully, rather than those dud-losing Sterilite plastic drawers. Just look at how smart this appears when applied in real life:

The closet seems the most apt locale to employ such transparent drawers, where small items such as bras, underwears, and socks might otherwise get lost in the shuffle (or, you know, behind solid drawer fronts). Not to mention, such articles also commonly happen to be brightly colored and patterned, lending themselves further to the overall see-through-to-what-exciting-things-are-inside effect.

But they were made for the shoes, no?

Or, was it the craft room?

And don’t go leaving the kitchen out either, heck, throw some glass fronted drawers in all the rooms!

Understandably, there are some areas wherein the whole point of the drawer is to glide and conceal, but where applicable, I say it’s favorable.

Now, what say you?

And don’t even think to comment all, “Oh, I dunno, I like them but I could never keep my things inside neat enough blah blah!” because that’s a bunch of horseradish and I won’t stand for it.

Where can a person purchase any of these glass front drawers?

I plan to build drawers with the glass fronts but with a divider inside so I can store my more pretty printed fabrics in an attractive way in the front behind the glass, but the more messy looking or less attractive looking fabrics or crafts supplies behind the dividers.
