Simple Systems: Emily Hart of Recently

May 30, 2013
Today on the docket, another Simple System coming at you- this time from blogger Emily Hart. Emily curates an exceptionally attractive blog, where, from time to time, she features her photographs of her children. If you happen to catch such posts, buckle up. Not only are her little dudes adorable, she’s got an undeniable knack for capturing them on camera at just the right moments and with just the right lighting. Yadah yadah, I’ll be quiet so we can begin:

Hi Live Simply friends! I’m Emily from Recently, and I’m so happy to be sharing one of my favorite (and simple) organizing tricks with you today. All you’ll need is a few trays, some small dishes, containers or bowls and you’ve got an easy and accessible makeup drawer organizer.

I found these Martha Stewart desk accessories at Staples, and decided to put them to use where I’d better appreciate them, and where I’d be happy to see them every morning during my beauty routine. I also had this tray from Furbish Studio, and a few vintage candle holders I’d picked up during one of my many thrift store trips.

I lined the bottom of my drawer with simple white poster board, but you could use almost anything (even wrapping paper!) as a liner. Then, all I needed to do was find a spot for everything I love and use every day. I think the different sized containers work well together, and I love that I get to open my drawer to this, instead of the crowded mess it used to be. It’s the little things right?

I’ve found that I’m much more likely to keep things neat with this setup because of its simplicity. Everything I need is right there within reach, so I don’t need to dig to find what I want.

I hope my organizing method brought you some inspiration, and remember, you don’t have to spend a ton of money to make this kind of system for yourself. I use vintage plates, teacups and dollar store trays to organize my jewelry, and even small plates and bowls from the kitchen can work wonders to corral those little objects that seem to go everywhere.

Thank you, Annie, for having me today. I loved every minute of it!

Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous SS, Emily. For more from Emily–> Recently
