Repurposed Wood Soda Crates
Vintage wooden crates and trays are like sooo having a moment right now.
I’ve seen them scattered all across the interwebs and in real life, too. They’re an apt home for small inanimate objects, what with all those divided sections, and they offer a certain rustic appeal for those who prefer a sense of history in their belongings. A sense of history, and a bit of dirt and pencil scrawls, which, you know, lends to the story of their prior-life.
Watch as a discarded soda crate transforms into a garage for toy cars:
Into an organizer for all types of art supplies:
Into a resting spot for threads and twine, yet:
In the kitchen, too, they taken their place. Soda crate come spice caddy, Martha would be all, “It’s a good thing.”
What say you? Cute and clever and you’re already en route to your local flea market to scrounge for one? Or you’ll stick with brand spanking new (thank you very much)?

I have a couple of these coke cases in my basement (yellow and red) and now I have great ideas for them.
Thanks! -
Can you tell me where you got the clear plastic inserts that you used on the yellow crate above, to keep small items (like crayons) from falling out? thanks!
