The Ideal Kitchen: The Brilliant, Space-Saving Way To Dry Dishes

May 11, 2016

If we could build the perfect room from scratch, what would it look like? What features would it contain? Let’s have ourselves a little daydream…

Dish drying racks continue to a kitchen staple. Undeniably useful, they’re also commonly bulky, unattractive, and generally countertop hogs.

So, much of the conversation surrounding them up until now has focused on how to choose more compact, stylish racks.

But, what if there was a way to change the game? What if a dish rack was not merely an added on accessory purchased at your local big box store, but an integrated kitchen design element? And what if that in-built feature was also (bonus!) the most space-friendly and beautiful method of incorporation?

Well, then I’d say we slap a “Ideal” label on that sucker and pin the day away…

Below, a few different iterations of the built-in dish drying rack:

Can't get enough of this unbelievably clever (not to mention space-saving) kitchen design trick!

So, what do you say? Want to donate your existing dish rack and recruit a contractor by lunchtime? Or, are you sticking with your old standby?

Actually, I refuse to have a dish rack. Instead I have a drying cloth and as soon as everything is dry I roll it up and put it away. Great ideas for drying dishes! Thank you.
