The Ideal Kitchen: Indoor / Outdoor Dining
If we could build the perfect room from scratch, what would it look like? What features would it contain? Let’s have ourselves a little daydream…
A while ago (which can ostensibly mean any amount of time, but in this case means three years and three-ish days) I wrote about the imagined glory of swing-out backsplash windows.
Everyone agreed that the feature more than qualified for our ongoing ideal home design list, by which I mean no one disagreed with the assertion, and one person actually commented to say she cosigned the concept.
In hindsight, I vastly undersold the potential that a swing out backsplash window creates. I limited our perspective to inside the kitchen and that was my bad, blog family. Had I just virtually drawn our eyes further, past the kitchen sink and the countertops and the vase of peonies and through the window, I positively could have recruited your excitement. I bet. Because out there, on the other side of said window, this might have been happening:

A pass through dining situation.
Please pause to appreciate the fact that the beach house above features marble countertops that extend from inside the kitchen to the outside.

Who’s excited now, huh?
