Spotlight on James Yochum Photography

March 1, 2013

It’s Friday, and I for one am happy to see it. Although, I must say, one of the coolest things about my life is that I love what I do everyday, really I do. The weekends are blissful, but I can’t claim to live for them, per say. All days are good ones to be alive and rockin’ it the way you best know how in my book.

Enough with that woo woo. Moving right along to today’s professional spotlight–James Yochum Photography.

Let’s talk about why I like him: he hails from Farmington Hills, MI– a hop, skip and a fabulously decorated interior away from the town in which I grew up, and from Traverse City, MI, a hop, skip, and a slightly mildewed towel away from my family’s cottage in Northern MI. Points, my friends, points.

Okay, also there’s his work. Let’s take a gander at some of the interiors found in his portfolio, shall we?

Well, this is just lovely. How about a soak, anyone?

Or perhaps you’d rather spend your leisure hours in the presence of these well-styled bookshelves. Symmetry? Check. A nice rich grey tone against which all those many-hued spines may pop? Check check. [check for fruit, check for vegetables, go on.]

This kitchen. This kitchen is cool. It’s like the 20’s crash collided into the modern day and the result was the pure class.

Then again, a little farmhouse vibe never hurt anyone (maybe it did, we shouldn’t assume, I’ve heard it’s rude). Amended: this one isn’t hurting me.

Fancy a little weekend retreat to this cabin, wherever it may be?

Finally, in regards to this last one, two words only: Um, hi.

That, I believe, is what they (I) refer to as the pièce de résistance. If ever you have found yourself wondering what, precisely, an exquisitely organized pantry captured by the eye of a masterful photographer looked like, now you know.

P.S. This weekend is the perfect time to show me your decluttered, hunkified junk drawer and win organizing services in the process.

I want that pantry so bad! Clever how the shelves on the left are shallow so food doesn’t get lost at the back.
