Spotlight On After Design
Thursday, ahoy!
Hopefully this first week of September has been treating you like little newborn lambs. Either way, I’ve got some interiors therapy coming your way so c/o of After Design, so there’s that.
Gray skies moved in right on cue in Seattle at the beginning of this week, then cut to blue and back again, a sure sign of the seasonal limbo we now find ourselves in. And oh! The other night there was this majestic rainstorm around here and I do appreciate a good storm now and then. Michigan does thunderstorms right. Seattle…not so much; not usually. But the other night it was positively crashing down rain and maybe there was even a faint rumble of thunder and I was tucked inside with all the windows open, yipping in delight.
Anyhow, no one including the weather can seem to figure out what season exactly to channel currently, and there’s something about these spaces that fit the bill rather perfectly. Wonderfully understated, After Design’s work is modern and crisp with a hint of cozy. The styling is purposeful and the lines are clean and there’s something about the whole situation that makes one feel as if sitting within, one could really clearly think.
(Peekaboo TV, where were you when we needed you?)
That’s all I got. Tell me something–anything–about your lives because I’ll like that.
P.S. Shout out to Susan, LSBA Reader Of The Day!

Hi, Annie! Sounds like your September is off to a great start. Mine always is because this time of year brings my favorite type of weather & oodles of family birthdays to celebrate (including mine). You mentioned Michigan. I took a road trip to Ann Arbor this past weekend & enjoyed time with lots of family. Family arrived from all over the country for a beautiful, Home-Going funeral/celebration of our cousin/my father’s dearest friend’s full, Loving & abundant life. Purposeful, cozy, think … your description of this home design … remind me of him (his intense intelligence, joy, love, faith, work, humor & no-nonsense devotion to helping youth). Clean lines indeed.
Thank you for introducing us to Jamie Deck’s designs … instantly hit the Follow button in Houzz for her. I can see exhaling in this home. Your focus on storms just fits with this color palette of grays, taupes & whites. Love it.
