Organizing Product Favorites: September 2015

September 29, 2015

Straight from the Live Simply factory, it’s the list of things I’ve been loving (for my clients and sometimes myself) all month long…

8 must-have products hand-picked by a professional organizer!

1. DecoBros Supreme Stackable Can Rack Organizer

I ordered this for my client’s kitchen–which happens to house a fairly extensive canned goods collection. Though the Amazon reviews were a bit worrying, what with the repeated statements about difficulty in assembly, I bit the bullet and bought the thing.

After putting it together, I can only surmise that either the company took the feedback to heart and made putting the rack together a breeze, or the reviewers have many strengths, easy product assembly not being one of them.

Point being, this is a winning way to house a medium to large sized collection of canned goods. What most impressed me was the ability you have to adjust the height between each rack, thus enabling you to accomodate small and larger cans, alike. (You know those really rotund tomato cans? They never fit in any rack. ‘Cept this one.)

Apparently, you can actually stack these racks atop each other, to create a canned goods tower. Just, you know, a word to the wise.

2. Rubbermaid Pull Down Spice Rack

You know what? This is pretty genius. That’s all there is to it.

3. Duralex Marine Blue Tumblers

See below (French, tempered glass, lovely) and add in: perfectly sized for a child or a shot of OJ in the morning, and: marine blue.

4. Duralex Picardie 18-Piece Tumbler Set

When the decision was made to ditch all the miscellaneous drink vessels collected over time and start fresh, with a matching set in my client’s many-busy-children-filled kitchen, there really was only one option.

French. Tempered glass. Lovely.

5. Blue 13-Pocket Accordion Receipt File

Organizing receipts made stupid easy.

6. TPS mint 3-drawer filing cabinet

&

7. White 2-drawer filing cabinet

If CB2 had any idea how many of these cabinets I’ve purchased on behalf of my clients over the years, they’d probably start giving them to me for free, and maybe even bestow some grandiose title on me like “brand ambassador.”

As it is, I continue to spend client dollars on them because I truly believe that for the price, they can’t be beat. That, and they really are the perfect size for people who’re ready to Live Simply with their files. They provide enough file space, but still maintain an impressively unobtrusive profile, and though they are metal, they most certainly do not make their owners feel like they’re in jail.

They’re just the right proportions to feel modern and sleek, and they come in a few fetching color-ways.

This is my hands-down go-to, and if you’re in need of new filing cabinet, care about things like style, and would be pleased with a reasonable pricetag, this is your guy. Seriously, just pull the trigger and order the thing. Oh, and you best have one of these as well.

8. Bosch GLM 15 Compact Laser Measure

Here’s the story on this seemingly lame inclusion: I was at my client’s house alone one day when her carpet cleaners arrived to do their estimate. Being based on square footage, the estimate had to be determined by measuring each room–which the carpetman did, while standing still, in one place, and occasionally pivoting.

There was no measuring tape. No sounds of bending metal or whatever, no retracting and placing and having his buddy help him. He stood there, pressed a button on this thing, and 5 seconds later was ready for the next room.

I was all, “What isss thattttt???”

And he was like, “You’re such a girl it’s laughable and it’s obviously an electric tape measure get with it.” I think that’s what he said, anyway.

Then I went home, like the fastidious girl that I am, googled electric tape measure, and had my world changed forever.

(For smaller spaces, like inside drawers and cabinets, the measuring tape is still more efficient. For everything else, there’s Mastercard. Er, Bosch GLM).
