Watch Me Perform A Basement Storage Transformation!
Today’s post is a “hey look guys, I do this in real life!” type, by which I mean I present unto you a video of me in LS action.
It’s fairly comical to me that due to the 5.5 feet ceilings, I actually look like a giant in this client’s basement space–which is certainly the first time I’ve uttered such a sentence, but in all likelihood not the last, given the strange corners I find myself Living Simply in most days.
So. Right then. Video.
It isn’t pretty, but it sure is beautiful, and if you understand that then we can hang.
Should you care for the backstory it is thus:
This was the state of my client’s basement storage room whence first I entered.
Lots of mysterious boxes and bags and very little floor.
It had gotten out of hand, we all agreed.
The accumulation of stuff in this space is so evident to me as I look at the picture–individual bundles were haphazardly (and hurriedly) tossed into the space, with the intention of returning to take care of it properly later. And then life continued on as it does and the piles were formed and the bags and boxes were continually added and on and on it went. Until!
I made it Live Simply.
Of course the first task was ruthlessly decluttering–my client and I cleared out at least two full car loads for donation. That helped considerably.
But then I gave it the royal treatment, adding these fantastic shelving units which luckily were the perfect height for these midget ceilings, organizing and sorting everything, storing them in my favorite watertight totes, labeling, and on and on.
There’s still a bit of work to be done–touch up painting and adding some additional items to be stored from around the house, but all in all, this basement has come a long way and that ain’t no lie.
(baby bye bye bye).
P.S. For those wondering, the vacuum I was using was this guy: Miele S2121 Capri Canister Vacuum Cleaner. It rocked my world.
