7 Canisters That Will Instantly Elevate Your Kitchen
I should be keeping count (only I’m too busy for collecting data) because I’ve done my fair share of kitchens this year. Big kitchens and small ones, pantries and cupboards. Lots and lots of adjustable shelving brackets, damn them in all their immovable glory.
There are several products notably absent from the majority of kitchens I see, products that are truly the difference between organizational ease and super un-hot messes. Perhaps none is more consistently spared than the canister.
This makes sense when you consider the fact that most every food product you purchase comes in its own packaging. I mean, even a banana comes with a jacket. And so since one already has a chip bag/ oatmeal carton/ cookie box/ etc., one thinks one maybe doesn’t need formal food storage containers in which to house already encased products.
But then you consider the finer points: the tendency with which you shove the food packaging into makeshift freshness-extenders like ziploc bags, flimsy tupperware, and so forth, and the lack of ability said containers have to appear neat and supremely visible in any cupboard or pantry, mish-mash as they are; the rapidity with which food items go stale if you store them in no vessel at all; the number of chip clips you own and/or know you own but are left relentlessly searching for unsuccessfully; the amount of food that become floor/drawer casualties as a result of ripped bags.
You know what conclusion you arrive at then, my friends? You deserve some dang kitchen canisters!
Go clear or decorative. Keep them in your pantry and cupboards or out on your counters. Use them for your pantry staples or for any and all dry goods. Go ahead, you have my full permission to treateth yo selfeth.
