2016 Planners For An Organized New Year

December 8, 2015

Sometimes I feel this need to not indulge the retail world’s over-zealous, in-too-much-advance-of approach to selling goods. Like, can’t we ever just buy things when we need them, instead of four months before? It isn’t as if we’re going to sea and won’t spot a shore (or a store) for who knows how long so we better stock up and get ready!

Only, sometimes this defiance backfires on me. Like this year, when I went to buy myself a 2015 planner during the last couple weeks of December, 2014 and found the shelves picked dry (everyone out to sea, penciling in their boat-steering shifts, no doubt). No matter, I figured. They’ll have to restock come January 1. I mean, then it’ll actually be 2015!

On January 1, the selections were fewer. Online and in stores. Sold out messages started haunting my dreams–my planner is everything to me, guys.

In the end I found one that’s done the job respectably, but the learning has been clear: my on-time was retail-Late with a capital L.

Well, not this time.

Not this year.

Which planner do you use? I’ve been through several planners in the past few years trying to find the best system to organize family of 6, multiple schools, PTA work and house projects.

I’ve yet to find the perfect solution to compliment my calendar being 99% online. So not unlike the bumper stickers that say What Would Jesus Do, while I sit here perusing blogs and Pinterest and retailers’ sites for the perfect one I thought “What Would Annie Do?”

Oh man, heart this comment big time. This year has actually been sort of a bummer in the planner department… I started using one, than wavered, then tried another…went back to the first, but not in love. At this point, I’m really looking forward to the chance to start fresh all over again…(like really soon!?) So I guess: stay tuned.

So I’m not alone. It’s like a support group for disappointing planners. I did the same thing. It’s distracting and costly.

That said – I think I may have found a good one. Simple but that might be best……Moleskine weekly. Here’s the deal: soft cover, good sizes (8-5 or 7-10), all months up front then each week has days on left side then right side page is just ruled for notes, to dos, drawings, etc. I’ll see how this one goes…..
