Favorite This: July 2016

August 2, 2016

Here it is: your personal peek into what I loved and relied on at work and at home all throughout July.

You’re going to want to get involved.

A professional organizer shares her favorite tools and tricks of the trade.

1. Interdesign vanity catch-all with built in handles

This is an exceptionally handy and versatile little organizer. I used a good bunch of them last month, all in different applications: as a way to corral cosmetics, as a makeup organizer, even as an arts and crafts caddy. It proved up to the organizing task every time. Plus, the handles make it way cuter.

Use it to contain your own smaller bits–your brushes and bottles and tubes of lipgloss and such.

2. Dyson cord-free vacuum

The Miele will always have my heart, but when it comes to cord-free vacuums, this Dyson is the clear winner.

It’s lightweight, functions as well on carpeting as it does on hardwood floors, charges quickly, and, mostly, it works.

When one of my clients asked for a vacuum recommendation this past month, I named this guy without hesitation, and in so doing, crystalized my love of it.

3. Double hang closet rod

This is the easiest solution for the non-customized closet. If you’re in a position where you’re unable to alter your closet, whether because of budget or because of rental agreements, this closet doubler is about to become your new best friend.

Here’s how you install it: you hang it like a hanger.

Here’s what it does: instantly doubles your closet capacity by providing you with two short hanging sections where before there was only one.

To all my renters reading, those poor souls whose closets contain just one sad, wooden rod: buy this. Possibly: buy two.

Trust me.

4. The Wet Brush

I’m not sure why it took me so long to get on this bandwagon, but suffice it to say I’m riding happy and tangle-free now.

The Wet Brush is like the Tangle Teezer, (which I very much hope you’re familiar with) only it has a handle, and it’s even better at navigating your locks. Get them for the wee babes who detest hair brushing and for yourself. For under $10, they’re a steal.

5. KT Pro Tape

It upsets me that more people don’t seem to know about this miracle product. I have, therefore, taken it as my personal mission to help spread the good word.

I can’t count the number of times this adhesive has saved me–both from sports related, as well as work-related, injuries and strains. This month, I had a couple too many instances where my will was bigger than my physical strength, and my back wasn’t all that pleased about it. Luckily, I keep the KT Tape on hand and in a backing-peeling, adhesive-applying jiffy, that back strain was a thing of the past.

Get involved.

FYI: kindly don’t even consider wasting your time on the non-pro version.

6. Cariloha Bamboo sheets

I first wrote about bamboo sheets a long time ago. I’m still as obsessed now as I was then, and at this point I consider myself somewhat of a bamboo sheet connoisseur. Since testing out offerings in the world of bamboo sheets has become a side hobby of mine, I was all about sampling the selection from Cariloha.

Here’s my verdict: they’re like sleeping in a cloud.

Here’s what I want to know: why don’t you own a set yet??

There it is–my love list from last month. Now I want to know: what were you obsessed with, organizing or otherwise, in July?
