Today, we’re turning the spotlight on Olivia O’Bryan, which is not one person, but two: the design firm is a partnership between sisters Ashley “Olivia” Waddell and Courtney “O’Bryan” Whatley. That fact nearly seals the deal for me right there, because sisters, as recently mentioned, are where my heart’s at (pretend that works grammatically).

Only Olivia O’Bryan’s design work is splendid to boot, of course. The sister’s portfolio is awash in atmospheres. That is: spaces full of design elements that so cohesively work together to communicate a feeling that you aren’t at all aware an atmosphere is being purposefully created. Like how one sets eyes on a Nancy Meyer’s set, which is somehow so good that you forget to notice it. Until the second viewing, when you’re all, “Shit, I would like very much like to move into that bakery in It’s Complicated. Or, at least order a scone from it.”

Brain wave coming in: Pretend-bakery scones, pretend-bakery-owner Meryl Streep, Nancy Meyers, The Olivia O’Bryan sisters, you, and me, all toasting the good life pool-side. Don’t be the one who says no and spoils all the pretend-fun.
