Monday’s Meditation: On The Courage to Ask

October 22, 2012

This is perhaps one of my very favorite quotes out there, and I couldn’t resist sharing it with you all today.

What you seek may be yours. The key is remembering that the world doesn’t know you want it, won’t know until you come right out and ask for it.

Asking takes guts. It takes sweaty palms and nervous twitches and stammers in speech and that dirtiest of all dirty words– vulnerability.

And if you can conquer those things, if you can ask despite them, you may eventually transform once tantalizing fantasies into manifest destinies.

Empower yourself with these phrases:

I can ask without being needy.

I can advocate for my needs without sounding pushy.

I deserve all I seek.

What I ask for I shall receive.

With a grateful heart I will return the deed.

I am made of tender brilliance.

I am capable of bettering the world.

I am bursting with purpose, with intention, with design.

The path towards my hazy vision begins with a question.

(Ask it.)

i love everything about this post!! it’s interesting how i forget to (or think that i shouldn’t) ask for things i need and want. i’m getting better about this in my relationship and it’s amazing to see how receptive my guy is when i communicate. i think it’s trickier in the professional world, especially for women, but we need to keep pushing for it because the boys sure are. thanks for the reminder 🙂
