Wrapping Paper Organization

December 4, 2012

Last week I helped one of my clients tackle her gift wrap drawer. The drawer was deep and life had happened in there in a major way.

The first order of business was to exume the many rolls of wrapping paper that were quietly suffocating (crinkling + ripping) at the very back and bottom of the drawer. After organizing the whole lot of ribbons, gift bags, tissue paper and gift tags, we decided (I made an executive decision) that the rolls of paper simply weren’t suited for the drawer life. Following are a few more fitting suggestions:

1. Stand rolls of wrapping paper up in a tall container. Place container atop a table.

1.1 Place wrapping paper in a tall container. Place container on the floor.

1.2 Place wrapping paper in a tall container with wheels. Roll away when not in use and back out when you’ve got gifts to wrap (speaking of wheels- this wheeled wrapping cart is pretty stellar).

2. Use a plastic gift wrap storage box to house your wrapping paper. Store wherever it’s convenient.

3. Get creative and repurpose a wine rack to store your wrap.

4. Pin paper rolls to a wire (recommended action: remove cardboard rolls prior to hanging or get yourself some heavy duty clips).

5. Roll paper up around wooden dowels.

6. Go the drawer route if and only if you can devote proper storage space in said drawers to your wrapping paper.

These are great ideas! Sadly, I only have the space for the lidded box idea, but love the handing dowel options!

The plastic gift bag storage box is maybe the most boring of all but also the most practical. Store out of sight and get out when needed. Who needs 99 rolls anyway? 😉
