Interior Trend: Vintage Trunks

May 28, 2013

It’s hardly a new trend (not in any sense of the word actually), but as of late I find my eyes drawn towards interiors containing vintage trunks. As a fairly dedicated germaphobe, it isn’t often I throw caution to the antibacterial hand soap and hunker down with interest in an inherited object. So great is the trunk’s appeal that I find myself caught up in the intrigue and mystery of it all, “Just imagine the kind of life it’s had! The adventures this trunk has known! Why, I bet King Henry VII himself stowed the likes of his Nikes and hand-scribed Shakespearean notes inside! (At least a duke).”

The possibilities for such trunks are seemingly endless; from coffee tables to nightstands, benches and bars, these offer a sturdy surface and storage to boot.

Technically speaking, it’s a wise investment, as multi-tasking furniture is always an asset, and, being double-purposed, some might argue double the worth.

So now I want to know: what’s your take on the trunk? Speak up, don’t be shy (let’s not forget I just ascribed imagined ownership of Nikes to King Henry, so there’s really no embarrassing yourself here). Bye!

Henry VII would have been very prescient to have Shakespeare’s notes in his trunk. His grand daughter Elizabeth I would have been much more likely. But Henry definitely would have stored his Nike’s in it so point taken.
