Spotlight On Shea McGee Design

October 11, 2013

I found today’s designer through Instagram, which just goes to show: social media, you know?

I was instantly smitten with her miniature pictures feed, and upon visiting her website, I found that Shea McGee Design‘s portfolio-sized images were just as splendiferous (there’s a word that’s fallen out of rotation, if it was ever in, eh?).

Her work is part classical, part glamorous, part nautical even. It’s like a whole recipe that ultimately yields some dang good looking designs.

Case in point, this dining room. I love the combination of sea-breathy whites and grand navy curtains. It’s like whoosh and then BAM! Isn’t that how you would categorize it, as well?

These next vignettes are perhaps a bit more subtle, but no less striking.

While another dining area manages to feel both sleek and warm–an elusive mix, let me tell you.

Just off that is a living room, replete with a sofa that begs to be elephant-sat in.

This is without a doubt one of my favorites of the bunch. Do I even need to explain why? I mean, you have eyes.

Another living room, which I think perfectly balances the lighter and darker hues.

Homegirl does not seem to struggle with shelf styling, as evidenced below.

Nor does she with choosing appropriate armchairs. White with gold piping, with a turquoise pillow on top. Oh, hi. Hi.

So many sitting areas, but this one is notable, I believe, for the way it melds feminine delicacy with a more durable–I wouldn’t go so far as to say masculine but–gender-neutrality.

And another few vignettes. I sort of get all weak in the finger knuckles over this picture because as of late I’ve been crushing on black globes.

Again, you have eyes, so.

This is one of those spaces that, if you were to present it to me prior to install, I might be unconvinced. But once assembled, you know, it absolutely works.

Ditto that comment to this babe-room. It’s rather Frenchy-fried, and now that I’ve been to the native land, I can’t help but admire.

To close, an office space that’s nothing short of lovely.

That wraps up another week on Live Simply.

Tell me your favorite room of the bunch and your weekend plans and your hopes and dreams and make some time in there to dust your TV and trim your bangs for lord’s sake.

Bye!
