Spotlight On Pimlico Interiors

April 21, 2016

A couple of weekends ago, I got to meet Melissa Lindsay of Pimlico Interiors, and I immediately understood her to be an exceptionally genuine and dynamic person. Then she told me she was a designer and I was really smitten, pulling up real close all, “Tell me more.” Except I think my version was much more an interrogation style than a seduction one. So it was probably more like, “Tell me more (COMMAND). What’s your aesthetic (DEMAND). OH YOU HAVE A SHOP, TOO?? WELL, DO YOU SELL ONLINE? 1st DIBS? CHAIRISH? WHAT’S YOUR ASTROLOGICAL SIGN?

Don’t call me overbearing, whatever you do. Excited. Kindred-spirit questing. That’s all.

The moral of the story is that I spent the better part of that weekend with Melissa and her best pal, and I left very un-ready to bid them goodbye. I would much have preferred us to hang out for a lot longer, only the grandparents who’d taken charge of their offspring started to reach their wit’s end and were sending threatening text messages, and I made the 2-pack take enough wrong turns, and thus extend the time spent together significantly, albeit it on accident, on the way to return me to my hotel. So it was goodbye for now, after all.

But! Hello, interior design firm portfolio stalking!

You know when you really like a guy you meet, and so you do your due diligence and stalk the shit out of his facebook? And are so relieved to discover a notable absense of debauchery or an overload of gratuitously shirtless poses? And instead, find images of real life, great style, and and a ridiculously amazing vintage, reupholstered chaise that make you fall harder and plan how quick you can nab a second date? (I’m kidding; I don’t know what this is like. I don’t have a facebook.)

Suffice it to say that as I scrolled through Melissa’s work, I was all, “Man, now I like her even more!”

Okay, let’s see if I can tell you anything actually important in this post:

Based in New Canaan, CT, Pimlico Interiors is helmed by aforeblogged Melissa and business partner, Jill Saunders. The duo share a shop, and offer design and styling services.

There’s an undeniably traditional undertone to Pimlico’s work. Indeed, it’s built on a foundation of New England-y sensibilities. But atop that are interesting, wonderfully disruptive elements that range in style from organic, natural elements, to moments of high glamour and delicious drama.

Let’s stop with the Me, because I’ve gone about for about a year, and get on with the Melissa:

You won't want to miss taking a tour through these "traditional with a twist" spaces! You won't want to miss taking a tour through these "traditional with a twist" spaces! You won't want to miss taking a tour through these "traditional with a twist" spaces! You won't want to miss taking a tour through these "traditional with a twist" spaces! (Melissa, we’re going to need to discuss this.)

You totally want a second date, don’t you?

Yeah, well get in line.
