Spotlight On Park & Oak Design

March 3, 2016

Today on tap we’ve got the work of Park & Oak Design, an Illinois firm owned by pals Christina Samatas and Renee DiSanto.

I found them on Instagram and was instantly smitten. So taken was I, in fact, that I took a screen shot, which is pretty much the picture equivalent of a post-it note. Remember them! and such.

A closer look at their work revealed my initial assessment had been correct (this is all about me, isn’t it?)–their work is understated and timeless, and I, for one, am a big fan.

Plus, you know, they grow ’em best in the midwest. Shhh.

The whole of their portfolio is deliciously muted in tones, but hardly scant on the details and textures.

That sofa is calling to me to come and elephant sit on it–you hear that too? But really, the overall composition of this space is beautiful.

Speaking of beauty, how’s this mantle for sophisticated, French cool?

Park & Oak has something going on with powder rooms. I’m not sure any designer would tout their ability to knock it out of the park in a powder room as top hire-me billing; nonetheless, these ladies do know how to fancy up a commode.

Those light fixtures look to me like oversized kitchenaid mixer bowls hung upside down and I am complaining about it not one bit.

And case in point, the third:

Here, allow me to introduce to you the striped stair runner you didn’t realize you needed:

And, the concept of a spacious, girly but totally un-vomittrocious girly bedroom:

Because the pink in that room only manages to convince you that you’re floating inside a cloud, or a tuft of artisan cotton candy, and who can really complain about that sort of mental transportation?

Park & Oak, the end.

Have a real stand-out of a weekend and don’t rethink your need for a regular trim and reschedule that hair cut because YOU’RE THROUGH LEARNING THAT LESSON, REMEMBER?

Great, glad we had this talk.
