Spotlight on Artistic Designs for Living

September 28, 2012

This Friday we’re rolling into the weekend c/o Tineke Triggs, principle designer of Artistic Designs for Living. The San Francisco based design firm credits itself with being centered around “creativity, organization and management,” A.K.A. my three favorite words in the English lexicon.

Let’s take a gander at what those words look like when practically applied, shall we?

To begin, some type of studio- perhaps one whose workers produce custom-made pillows, window coverings, or who really cares anyhow this space is off the chain. The fabric swatch organization– really, have you ever?

Another work space, perhaps in the same office, but this- where the clients meet with the pillow designer to discuss their options in shams and throws. Despite my-perpetuallydevotedtowhite-self, I feel drawn to the vibrant colors herein. Set against the brick it somehow just… works.

Next up, T.T. gets artsy in the closet. Creativity? I’d say the distressed wood drawers qualify on that point. Organization? Hello! Management? Oh, this space is managed all right. Those spotlights don’t hurt either.

Moving along, Ms. Triggs applies artistic design to the eating area. Is it utterly delightful? Why yes, it is. Are those acrylic chairs the most uncomfortable thing on which you’ll ever sit your sweet little behind? Most likely! But damn it if they don’t complete the uber-chic-breakfasting-vibe here. You use that clear furniture Tineke– I’m behind you all the way!

Next up– the children’s quarters. Below you’ll find perhaps one of the most inviting spaces for a young girl thing: cozy bed nook (= increased security from imagined night monsters), ladder up to bookshelves (= a little badass, likely to increase the child’s adventurous side), dollhouse (= encourages natural play and active imagination). It’s good stuff I say.

As the years progress, so too does the deepness of the pink’s hue, apparently. This, for a growing sister set. The C.O.M. here is truly off the charts. Please note the built in storage drawers beneath those vibrantly-sheeted mattresses.

And here, the matching bathroom. Like a sweater set, but in house form. Now might be a good time to ask: what exactly is a sweater set?

Following, T. Triggs goes sophisticate in the form of a refined and richly inviting kitchen and breakfast nook.

Now these. These may be my favorite of the bunch. The most beautiful marriage of grey and yellow if ever there was one. Highlights include (besides all of it): grey subway tiling, ridiculously attractive matt white hood, under-cabinet lighting, etc etc.

And finally, a few more kitchen shots to close us out. Get a load of this spice cabinet directly stove adjacent.

And then let’s talk about the wrap-around rod on which cook books, utensils, and S&P shakers are easily suspended. That is some creativityorganizationmanagement.

Ah, it’s lovely. Ms. Triggs, you’ve done it again if you’ve ever done it before.

Here’s wishing you all a Simply weekend–
