Monday’s Meditation: On Loving What I Do

October 28, 2013

I’m writing this post on a plane. What with the turbulence, and the fact that the woman (stranger) next thing me is subtly cuddling my right arm, well, I’m going to give it the best I’ve got. Truthfully, the only thing I feel compelled to write about this week is how much I love what I do. I mean, I come home from clients’ absolutely wrecked with exhaustion, but also with the ineffable sensation that my spirit is literally singing in joy.

I love that my work exists on so many levels—that it is as much about the beauty of appearances as it is helping others to obliterate the mental and emotional clutter they hadn’t even realized the weight of until they’ve shed it.

And oh, do I love the look on people’s faces when they see the results of my labor. When they marvel at the volume of stuff that might have come from one closet say, or when they gaze in awe at a space that looks brand new, as compared to the raggedy, run-down state in which it had previously been existing for what must have felt like ten thousand Mondays; when their mouths drop open and they cry with happiness and relief–those are the times my insides tapdance on platformed clouds.

And this blog thing too. This blog is another part of it all. And it’s one to which I’m equally devoted. I hope it feels as though each post has been pumped full with an unsullied concoction of love and care and joy, because that’s how things look on my end.

And the comments? The ones that say, “Hey, I love this too!” Or, “You inspired me to do such and such!” Those keep my fingertips trotting back and forth on the keyboard, day after day.

And mostly I am so damn grateful to be instilled with the special gift I have, to live in a universe that not only needs, but enables me, to share it.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for passing it along and spreading the Simple Love. Thank you for being a part of the continuing evolution which is Live Simply. I promise there are so many more exciting things to come.

That’s it. Just know: this space is a part of my larger work, which is a part of my heart. Be at ease here and always feel welcomed and understood and cared for and never judged.

The love in me bows deeply to the love in you—

-A.T.

P.S. Dig my pumpkin, eh?

Go Annie! I love decluttering, tidying up and generally keeping my home in good order as I believe it makes me a calmer, happier person and I read your blog for tips and suggestions. I always feel inspired to go home and organise some more after reading your blog. Thank you!
