Live Simply All-Star: Method Cleaning Products

June 12, 2013

A little while ago, I wrote some blathering about a certain Method bathroom cleaner that worked wonders in my shower. I stand by that post, but I’d like to take the opportunity to amend (extend) it slightly.

Here’s the deal: sometimes you just feel compelled to shout out a winner. When you’re a professional organizer/life simplifier whose hobbies including folding laundry, color coding, and scrubbing dirtied grout, and you have a blog, you sometimes feel compelled to write a post about Method products which are winners.

I’ve tried a whole bunch of Method products since that Tub N’ Tile and I hit it off as we did, and I can honestly say not one has disappointed (full disclosure: the daily shower formula smells to me of baby diaper–clean baby diaper of course, but baby diaper all the same. So bear that in mind). Each one smells fresh but never overpowering, does exactly what it claims to do, and is free of toxic poisons, which I hear is usually considered a plus.

Listen, listen, I’m not suggesting you reside in some hovel where news of the last millenium hasn’t been received let alone Method and it’s colorful solutions, I’m merely making the comfortable assertion that perhaps you’ve passed their products by many times in the supermarket, or that you’ve limited your initiation to the brand to one bottle, and like, try more, hey! (?) If, consequently, you’re well-versed in Method and use their products on the regular, then let’s bask together!

Here’s some dumb picture I took for photographic evidence:

The current cleaning arsenal includes the squirt + mop wood floor cleaner which works well and has a lovely and subtle almond scent, the steel for real stainless steel polish which leaves my fridge so reflect-y I can practically use it as a mirror, the aforeblogged tub n’ tile bathroom cleaner, as well as the daily shower spray in baby diaper scent for maintaining the clean, the all purpose cleaner in french lavender (not pictured) and I usually hate the smell of lavender because it never fails to remind me of my elementary school teacher who had terrible B.O., but that’s a story for another time, as well as the all purpose surface cleaner in ginger yuzu.

Method, you’re a grand brand, in my humble opinion.

Oh, and since I’m clearly entering the hardcore brand loyalty zone, be sure to let me know which Method products you love so I can scoop those up too.

I’m going to go do something to try and regain some morsel of cool, being that composing an ode to home cleaning products doesn’t quite boost one’s rating.

After reading your post on Method Bathroom cleaner, I went to Target and bought it. I have to admit it worked great and I love the nonbleach smell. Definitely will be trying more of their products! Thanks for the post!!

I like the packaging and price of this product. But most of all its the fact its a bio-degradable non-toxic and environmentally friendly cleaner which I like. In fact its what makes me purchase products from the method range in the first place. Unfortunately I have yet to find a more effective cleaner than plain bi-carb and vinegar!

I am a huge fan of Method as well. The only product that has let me down is less a problem with the product and more a failure of packaging…the Spray Fabric Softener. The sprayer nozzle or pump or tube or something gets clogged or fails pretty quickly. At first I thought it was just my bottle. So I bought another to replace my half full bottle thinking ok Ill just refill from the other. But this one died about 1/4 of the way into use. So I looked at their website and nearly every review is the same complaint.

So since the fabric softener itself rocks, I have since saved an empty hand soap bottle (Method hand soap rules) and I dumped it all into one of the empty pump bottles, and I pump it now onto a wet white washcloth and toss that into each load.

Am I the only person who actually LOVES the smell of bleach? Maybe it’s the OCD & shiny brightness that I love..

Ms. Annie: The story on removing hairspray from the bathroom walls and floors, I have found using Rubbing Alcohol works wonders. Plus you are disinfecting at the same time.
