What Do I Do With These Mystery Keys?

January 29, 2014

Those keys?

The ones that have been hanging out in the junk drawer for the past five years? The ones lurking at the bottom of that penny jar, with all those mysterious screws? The ones that haven’t unlocked anything for you this side of the millennium?

Right, those.

You can get rid of them now.

I know, I know. it’s a wild notion. The what ifs! The maybes! The mystery!

Sure, you might indulge your anxiety by trying the keys in your locks. No problem, take a moment to think about any other locked things you might have, like a shed, a vault, a parallel life.

Then take the keys, those ones from before, give them a little kiss or don’t cause they’re probably super dirty, and then send them on their way.

Option 1- Trash

Great for the lazy or the very busy. Evidently not so great for the environment.

Option 2- Recycle

Head to your local recycling center and deposit those suckers in the mixed metals collection bin.

Option 3- Charity

Mail in your keys to an organization like Keys for Kindness. They’ll melt the keys down for scrap metal and donate the funds to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Address: Keys for Kindness, P.O. Box 201, Pearl River, NY 10965.

Option 4- Do some craft. Stuff.

Lots o’ people are doing lots o’ projects with keys. Go ahead and google that bad boy if you please. But like probably just do one of the three options above cause that’s gonna be the most Live Simply.

Oh no! I’m so bummed to hear that! I can’t seem to find any other info about the group–definitely not a con from what I can tell, but perhaps no longer operational. 🙁
