Birthday Wishes, 2014

April 4, 2014

As I do, I’m taking advantage of my birthday today, and sharing 10 wishes with you:

1.

That each one of us know, with an unfaltering certainty, that at our core we are good, capable, and worthy, and moreover, we have been brought here for a purpose, which the whole universe wants to support us in carrying out.

2.

That we would more readily admit to ourselves that we can’t go it alone, that no one ever has or ever could, and that enlisting the help of others in areas in which we might not naturally be skilled is not weak but wise, not indulgent but kind.

3.

That we, as grown-ups, take just a few minutes every day to remember to wonder at the world as we did so effortlessly when we were young and it was new. Because life is no less wondrous, and constantly begins anew.

4.

That we would all care a little bit less about impressing others, and become more focused on impressing and astonishing ourselves through goodness-giving, expectation-defying measures of courage and compassion that straight up blow us away.

5.

That a mini labradoodle would fall straight from heaven and right into my lap. Also, MaryCake*

6.

That we would all embrace, rather than attempt to avoid, hard work, because when we’re doing what it is we’re meant to be doing, “work” is really just another word for “love.”

7.

That we, as a society, value excellence, elevate the attainment of happiness, and understand laughter to be the medicine to all of life’s ails.

8.

That you understand how much of my heart and insides and soul I put into this space, purely for the purposes of inspiring, empowering, and spreading joy.

9.

That we realize now that in the end our lives will be measured not by what we amassed, how much we had, how long our contact list, or what we had holed up inside ourselves, but what we created, whom we loved, how we gave of our gifts to the world.

10.

Finally, my wish is for you to help me share Live Simply and the philosophy it encompasses with the world. If you’ve liked a post in the past, or find one you like in the future, it would very truly fill me with happiness if you shared it with the person with whom you think it might resonate.

And, because that made me a little emotional and I’m sort of on a roll now, I just want to say: thank you for reading, visiting, commenting, pinning, tweeting, and sharing. This space is for us both.

I can’t say I love you because like, I don’t know you, but my loving heart is here on these pages, and I hope you feel that you can tap into it whenever you like.

ANNIE OUT.
