10 Best Under The Sink Organizers

April 19, 2016

The area under your sink runs a high risk of effortlessly achieving nightmarish status (it’s there right now, isn’t it? It’s okay, you can tell me.) It’s dark, it’s out of reach, there’s piping interrupting positively everything, and if there’s a garbage disposal–forget it. Trying to utilize that space for storage ends up feeling like an impossible obstacle course.

Except, of course that you’ll go ahead and try to use that space, anyhow. Because it’s there. Or because you need to. But if you don’t do so conscientiously–with product reinforcements–the moment you set that rogue first spray bottle down you begin fighting a losing battle.

The good news is that, with the right equipment (this is one of those cases where it really does come down to having the help of organizing products) your undersink region can be a thing of beauty.

Right this way…

10 of the best under the sink organizers this professional organizer swears by!

1. Expandable undersink organizer

This guy is plastic, make no mistake about it. And it’s fairly cheap. If you go in expecting the sturdiness of steel, you’re going to be sadly disappointed. It feels a little flimsy, is what I’m trying to say. Despite that, I’ve used and continue to use this in client’s undersinks because the sheer factor of its adjustability makes it a winner. It doesn’t get installed, but assembled, and can be configured so as to accomodate any arrangement of pipes and disposals. Plus, the clean white helps everything feel very visible. I might go so far as to call it a renter’s dream…

2. Roll out cabinet undersink drawer

This has all the sturdiness the former option somewhat lacks; it’s installed with a few screws, and the chrome is hefty in a good way. You won’t have to worry about it tipping over in any direction.

Word to the wise: take note of the height of the rails. They aren’t very tall, meaning that unless you fill that sucker up enough that nothing moves around, tall bottles have the potential to tip over.

3. Stackable undersink sliding basket

A very solid, respectable option in the undersink organizing department, these actually stack beautifully, and are sized optimally for awkward lower cabinet spaces.

4. InterDesign overcabinet dish towel holder

I’ve already expressed how highly I rate InterDesign products, and their kitchen offerings are no exception.

This overcabinet dish towel holder allows you to make use of undersink cabinet doors.

5. InterDesign Overcabinet paper towel holder

Ditto above, but for paper towel–possibly an even better idea!

6. InterDesign overcabinet organizer

Our third ID offering–I like this one because of the length between the overcabinet hooks and the upper caddy, which allows for storing taller things like cleaning bottles.

I’ve often seen the reverse, with the upper caddy being shallower and the lower caddy being taller, but I always find that iteration is more annoying, since you end up constantly bumping and fumbling the tall bottles into the caddy above.

Did any of that make sense? Whatever.

7. White elfa easy gliders

Another very respectable pull-out option, this one is from The Container Store’s Elfa line. It’s available in loads of different sizes, and is easily assembled and installed.

8. Cabinet-sized elfa drawer solution

Ditto the explanation above, this set of drawers is available in a narrow size that’s optimal for undersink areas. It’s especially successful in a bathroom undersink, if you ask me.

9. Rev-A-Shelf undersink pull out removable caddy

The sole item with which I have no personal experience, but was so thoroughly convinced of it’s awesomeness based upon its product description that I chose to include it.

Apparently, it’s a pull-out option (like the two above), that also doubles as an easily removable caddy! Think of the possibilities!

I’ll get around to testing this out sooner or later, but if anyone beats me to the punch, please do report back.

10. Stacking wire baskets

The goal with undersink storage is to utilize all the available depth and height. So if you can find a deep storage product that also allows for stacking, well, I’d say you were a winner. I recently tested these wire baskets out and was very impressed with their stackability (I’ve ranted previously, but loads of products tout their stacker-friendliness, and in reality are only really good at toppling over). And with lots of sizes to choose from, you’re sure to find one to fit your undersink.

Hope that helps! COMMENT IF IT DID OR DIDN’T OR JUST COMMENT ANYTHING BECAUSE IT’S THE ONLY WAY I KNOW YOU’RE ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS AND NOT JUST A BUNCH OF NUMBERS ON MY SCREEN.

Like the stacking wire baskets. Any thoughts on finding slighty more stylish ones for the kitchen counter use ?Also I’ve used under sink organizers that were intended for the pantry or closet. IE small screw in rod with hooks works well.
