Spotlight On The Coastal-Classic Vibe Of Digs Design Company

May 9, 2018

Seattle has been hinting at summer the last couple of days. I stopped needing any sort of jacket, even in the mornings. My car, parked for several hours, has been near-steamy, and thus, the ceremonial QUICK BLAST THE AC BEFORE I SUFFOCATE IN HERE has returned. I’ve been sweating more than usual while working. The daylight lasts so damn gloriously long. Those sorts of exciting developments.

The rising temperatures have also made me think about things like beaches, which naturally brings to mind coastal homes. As if on cue, Digs Design Company popped up on my radar.

Based in Newport, Rhode Island, and helmed by Jocelyn Chiappone, Digs Design’s aesthetically claims to be “coastal chic.” The home down yonder is certainly, obviously coastal (whales, shells, and ships are standard coastal fare and present here), but it thankfully bears no resemblance to what one might term “theme-y;” ergo the “chic.” In place of kitsch, Digs delivers class, so that the home may make most sense water-adjacent, but would be as timelessly inviting in any other context.

This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic." This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic." This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic." This bedroom calls to me in particular. It’s like a giant, enveloping version of the best Chambray shirt you’ve ever worn. This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic." And if the interiors don’t do it for you, just you try this on for size:This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic." This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic." This New England home is the poster child for "coastal chic."

Separate project, equally impressive, this kitchen:

Can you dig it?

(So sorry.)

Love the house! I really love the rug in the bedroom with the single beds. I was wondering where you purchased it. It would be perfect for my granddaughters new room! Thanks so much.
