Do you ever stumble across someone and wonder how it’s possible they’re not more well known? Wonder how it’s possible they don’t have followers by the bucket full and whole groups of fan girls? And whether their lack of ubiquity is by design?
Such were the ponderings I had upon discovering Melissa Lenox’s designs.
Lenox got her start working at a firm in San Francisco. But it wasn’t until relocating to South Carolina that she began her own company. Her work, then, is an amalgamation of the influences of both coasts. It is every bit as California cool as it is Charleston charm. Where those two worlds meet is, delightedly, an airy, coastal aesthetic with generous doses of the contemporary and the traditional. Oh, and there’s a porch swing.
