Spotlight on Melanie Stewart Interior Design

September 6, 2013

Hey there, campers.

I hope this week has treated you most sublimely. Speaking of treating, today we’re basking in the work of Melanie Stewart Interior Design. There’s a simplicity of design evident in her work that feels fitting as an almost end-of summer palette cleanser. Her portfolio for the most part lingers in the realm of blacks and whites, a fact which in no way affects its intrigue factor. Careful accessorizing pronounces itself in each space, so that the viewer comes away with a sense of streamlined design that none the less packs a certain punch.

Case in point, this charming seating area, wherein the black bookcases delightfully mirror the room’s color scheme, themselves combining the black with the white.

And like, would you get a load of that mirror? I could have sworn I outgrew the basic six-petaled flower shape as a major design element around the fourth grade, but darn if this doesn’t have me rethinking that decision.

The black and white combo continues below, this time in a more starkly contrasting rendering. Stewart seems conscious to soften the space though, and this she achieves by way of living things like plants, hey!

Below the aforeblogged motif continues, this time represented by a glorious trellis wallpaper and such.

But here Melanie hits it out of the park: striped wall, tufted chairs with nailhead detailing to boot, supple wood table (would we say that wood could be supple?). It’s fine design I say.

Next up, Madame Stewart takes a turn towards high glamour, with a statement-making (papered? Hand painted?) wall.

Lest you think her limited in variety, below Stewart proves she can equally do easy breezy.

So, too, can she walk the line of almost-eclectic-but-still-refined-enough-to-be-classic.

You are so my dears and I wish I could squish your faces off sometimes for reading so loyally as you do.

Be good to yourselves this weekend, and to your own dears, too. And get a handle on those cuticles. You look, as my mom would say, as if you don’t have a mother with those things wagging around.

Bye!
