Shoe Magic- Shoe Cabinet

November 1, 2012

I have very seldom praised products on this platform which I haven’t tested out myself. The first, and perhaps only time I did do such a thing, it turned out quite well; the 360 Electrical Powercurve Mobile Surge Protector, when I did test it after the fact, was all I had hoped it would be and more.

So I haven’t actually tried today’s topic product. True. But, I have a great track record for blind recommendations. You’re in luck! On the redeeming side, I have actually seen the product with my own two eyes, conveniently styled with shoes by the merchandisers and everything. So that’s something.

The shoe cabinet. Here’s the lowdown: incredibly slim design. Maximum shoe storage.

When you approach this guy from the side, or even face it dead-on, it looks about as thick as a popsicle stick. You’re all, “How on earth are loads of shoes situated inside that thing?!” And, “No way.” And, “Prove it.”

So then you open it up and– WHA-BAM!

It’s like a really awesome organizing magic trick.

The secret is in the slant, you see. The shoes sit on the flat surface of the shelf, usually held in by a metal rod. The shelf tilts downwards when you close it. As a result, you end up having your shoes stowed vertically, while being given horizontal access to them. Does that make sense? I’m struggling a bit to describe the mechanics, clearly. I trust your imagination can fill in the gaps.

Love, love, love it!! I put it on my Christmas list. I love the fact that it holds 27 pairs of shoes!! Yea!!!

  2. Amye on November 1, 2012 at 12:20 pm

I’ve always been intrigued by these – but wondered, doesn’t “shoe crud” from normal wear just pile up in the bottom of the crevice? Perhaps an occasional vacuuming would do the trick, but it was a concern….

Can you source the 2nd photo? Its not the Ikea or Container store options, but seems to hold 3 tiers in each drawer. If I’m gonna get this, thats probably the one to try!

Can’t find the source for that one, but as far as I can see, this seems to be the same model: http://www.stacksandstacks.com/shoe-cabinet-triple-holds-36-pairs Check it out. Also, good point about the shoe crud.. I suppose regular cleanings would be in order. But aren’t they for all things.. 😉

Where can I get that shoe storage above ( the one that has 3 drawers 9 shoes each, 27 total ) ? My wife loves it and needs it.

      Hi Woody,
Please refer to the response I gave the last reader with the same question. 🙂

Although similar, the one in the photo seems to be better quality, with a top drawer for polishes, etc and has nice shaker detail on the sides. – the search continues

  7. Kristelle on January 11, 2013 at 2:35 pm

Love it! However, the photos are not all of the same cabinet. There are actually 3 different ones shown. The two smaller ones ARE from Ikea, but the larger one (that looks like it contains about a hundred shoes) is not–at least I couldn’t find it anywhere on their website.

    • Kristelle on January 11, 2013 at 2:52 pm

I realize it’s really only 27 pairs, but just looks like a hundred. eitther way, it sure does hold a whole lot of shoes!

  8. Dane Jackson on March 10, 2013 at 11:22 am

Are you sure that second one is from IKEA? The Hemnes Shoe Cabinet only has two drawers and the one pictured has three drawers. Is it a hack or a mod?

I really want to organize my shoes in one of these and then maybe limit my collection to 27 pairs of shoes. Maybe. 🙂

  11. Ester on July 30, 2013 at 10:10 pm

LOL, the one on Lugbuy.com is $910.xx shipped to the U.S. — I don’t think so!!! The outside of the Ikea ones is prettier. If anyone comes across the one with 3 drawers that looks like the Ikea one and at a reasonable price, please post here….
