Spotlight on Leo Designs

October 18, 2013

It’s Friday, which is something we can all be happy about, and here’s another:

Leo Designs is located in Chicago, although “Chicago” is up for interpretation. It’s one of my favorite cities, yes, and the Magnificent Mile, also yes, but the Chicago that’s filled with fairy tale interiors that convey, quite convincingly, some European castle or other? That Chicago I haven’t personally frequented. Perhaps it’s one of those Platform 9 3/4 deals. There is always that possibility, after all.

And so let’s step onto it, because, at last, the internet provides the ultimate key to access all otherwise private realms.

Leo calls this first space “Elegant.” What with that lovely chandelier, that generous drapery, each bunch of fabric rather more resembling some fabulous mademoiselle’s ball gown than a mere “curtain,” the beautifully dainty furniture, well, I’d say they hit the nail on the pale pink tulip.

A brief pause at the powder room, which is no less elegant than its predecessor, and rather striking, itself, because of that lacquer paint job.

This is white kitchen heaven–as almost all white kitchens are–but they really didn’t have to go to the trouble of setting the table just for me (yes they did).

Adjacent the kitchen is the matching Butler’s pantry, and oh how I would jumping jack with joy at being able to organize the stuff behind that cabinetry.

This shot happens to belong to a different kitchen all together, but, no matter. I like it and I make the rules around here so hey.

Leo happily satisfies my appetite for the big white chair, although theirs is perhaps a bit more civilized than the squashy ones to which I’m normally drawn.

And this–I imagine to be–attic space is every fem’s fantasy, replete with silver poufs and poufy poufs and Eiffel tower-adorned throw pillows and god, the symmetry always gets me.

Or wait no, was it this? The space that every blogger perhaps pines for. But how lovely it is, after all, to gaze out the gloriously round window when one blogs away.

Now I know what you’re saying at this point: it’s all awfully white, isn’t it? To which I would respond, well, yes, but so am I. And if that’s not enough to leave you astonishingly unresolved, then I don’t know what is.

But don’t give up on your hopes for color just yet, because the Leo ladies have sneakily injected a big dose of KA-WHAMY BETYCHYA DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING, DIDJYA? in the form of a wardrobe interior painted to a near-neon hue of pink.

So quit your belly-aching (and why oh why is that the expression for whining? Like, do complaining and stomachs have some medical correlation or something?).

Along. This entryway is winning.

And this play area is pure sunshine. And not just because of that yellow striped window covering. But yeah, mostly because of that.

Next, Leo designs a satisfying dark study. And I’ve said it before: I do like me a dark study.

Below, Leo tries one last big effort to pull the wool over our eyes, i.e. that we’re actually in Europe and we didn’t even know it. I know it now, do you?

Fin: a softly neutral sitting place and some close up action on a chandelier because beauty.

Stretch your fingers out in gratitude for all you have that’s sublime, and make some time for an art project this weekend. The whole pick out a leaf, put it under paper, and trace over the outline in block crayon used to be a big hit, just saying.

I’m off to absolutely Live Simply for lord’s sake.

Bye from me, ANNIE.
